Dave "Ravin' Dave" Lekawa - Guitar / Lead Vocals / Backup Vocals - Dave is one of the co-founders of the Cadillacs. He's also the man with the sound system. Dave's musical tastes range from Marshall Tucker and the Allman Brothers to current country performers. Dave has a gritty, bluesy voice for solos, but he also sings harmony on most of the other tunes. Dave is usually behind a Gibson Les Paul - either his Black Beauty, Gold Top, or Rainbow model. He plays through a Marshall short stack. (Tall stack when needed...)
Mike "Mad Dog" Serres - Guitar / Lead Vocals / Backup Vocals / Harmonica / Keyboards - Mike is the other co-founder of the band. An "original" in more ways than one, he performs many of the doo-wop tunes from the 50s and 60s, and shares the lead guitar duties with Dave. Mike has no formal musical training. He plays by ear...and sometimes he even uses his fingers. Mike normally plays either his black Fender Stratocaster, with Lace Sensor pickups, locking heads, or his lastest baby, a Les Paul Classic, through a Mesa Boogie Mark I. He sometimes uses either a Fender Super Reverb or a Fender Twin Reverb.
Paul "Fingers" Law - Bass / Backup Vocals - Paul is the lowest key member of the band. He's an old hand at performing in rock bands. He's seen it all. Done it all. Been there, done that, had the t-shirt to prove it. Paul plays by ear, and when forced, will knock out a right-on harmony. He's also an accomplished guitarist and keyboard player. Paul's bass rig is basically a standard setup. He has various amp configurations depending on the environment... from light jazz to loud rock!
Mark "Sticks" Gallegos - Drums / Percussion / Vocals - Mark plays the drums. He plays them hard. He plays them fast. He plays them for all he's worth. He also has a wicked sense of humor. Mark is comfortable with any kind of rhythm. Which is a good thing, since the band plays everything from ballads to cha-chas to jitterbug to blues to heart-pumping rock. Mark, has a set that looks like the grill of a '49 Buick. But it sure sounds good. It's a Tama Starclassic maple set with a Dave Weckl snare.
Jane "The Chick" Cooper - Keyboards / Lead Vocals / Backup Vocals / Flute - Jane takes the most abuse of anyone in the band. Is it any wonder? It's like being the kid sister with four big brothers. It's like being an only Brady sister. Or like being in the Partridge Family, but without Shirley Jones. You get the idea. Jane can belt out anything from soft ballads and blues to rockers. She also plays some jazzy flute. Jane plays a couple of synths. The old standby, Yamaha DX7, and a new Yamaha P-80, 88-key, 53 pound orchestra in a box. She also plays an old, found-in-a-trunk, overhauled, off-brand flute with a sweet tone.
The Band's Equipment...um, so to speak...
Speaking of equipment, now's as good a time as any to talk briefly about our equipment, which is to say, Dave's equipment. Throughout the years, Dave has assembled a vast amount of P.A. equipment. So vast, he currently does sound reinforcement for local festivals and name bands that come through town through his sound business, Location Audio. He's been the p.a. guy for Tucson Meet Yourself Festival for years and years. So the band always has the finest sounding p.a. in town... you can actually hear the vocals, which is good since we pride ourselves on our vocals.
We use Shure microphones (SM58s), and a Shure in-the-ear wireless monitor system that has saved our collective backs from moving floor monitors and an amplifier to power them.
The main in-door p.a. (we use primarilly for vocals) are two Bose speaker sets on stands. Dave can provide stacks of cabinets for outdoor gigs (we refer to that as the "Woodstock" setup), but for most gigs, we don't want to drive people away from the stage, or part their hair.
